1/4 …1:04 am…Zone 10…Bewick Point…BIS Officer received a call from an excited member stating she was home alone and the alarm to the house was actively sounding. BIS Officer arrived at 1:08 am. Officer checked the exterior of the house, all doors and windows were secure, no tracks in the snow from any person or animal. No evidence of an intruder or other unauthorized entry. Officer then made contact in person with the reporting member and assured her everything was secure. Likely a weather or wind caused false alarm. Officer advised the young member to call BIS again if the alarm goes off or she sees/hears anything unusual. Officer cleared scene at 1:20 am.

 

1/4…9:20 am…Zone 10…Belle Air Road…BIS Officer discovered a single vehicle traffic crash involving a garbage truck that had struck a fence line pillar at a member's residence.  BIS Officer attempted to contact the member/homeowner - left a voice message about damaged fence pillar and vehicle information. Driver of the truck and his supervisor stated the residents are customers of theirs and they will contact them as well. No further follow up at this time. Driver and vehicle information logged for future reference if needed.

1/6…8:25 pm…Zone 6…Springmeadow Drive…Member called the BIS office number and left a message about a “homeless lady waving her arms and smoking a cig” at the entrance to Spring Grove gated community. No further description given. BIS Officer retrieved message at office upon return from a patrol, approximately 20 minutes later and responded. Officer arrived in the area at 8:51 pm - checking numerous streets while enroute to the entrance of Spring Grove. Female was not located in the area. Officer checked inside Spring Grove gated community as well with no contact. No other calls received. Officer monitored the area throughout the evening to determine if possible homeless person returned to the area. No contact or other observations were made, however.

 

1/7...12:30 am...Zone 1...Ridgway... Member, who was at home, called BIS Officer requesting assistance with an alarm that had activated at their home. Member advised interior of home was checked and was secure. Officer responded and arrived at 12:41 am. Officer checked entire exterior of home and found no signs of attempted forced entry or other possible foul play. No evidence of intruder or animal activity that may have caused alarm to activate. Officer informed member of results of his investigation and cleared scene at 12:47 am. Potential technical malfunction of alarm system.

 

 1/7…05:14 am...Zone 9...Marland Road. BIS Officer received a call from a member who was out of town regarding an alarm at member's residence. Member stated CSPD was contacted by the alarm company but refused to respond. BIS Officer responded and arrived at 05:20 am where Officer found a door partially open on the residence. No signs of forced entry or foul play, no tracks from persons or animals observed. BIS Officer checked entire outer perimeter and interior of residence. All was secure and undisturbed. High winds were present and possibly blew door open activating alarm. Officer left the residence. Closed and locked the door. Notified member of investigation results and actions taken. Officer cleared scene at 05:34 am.
