Officer Notes 1/8/24 to 1/14/24

1/9…2:20 pm…Zone 8…Crossland Road…While patrolling, BIS Officer observed a suspicious vehicle parked on a member’s property. BIS Officer contacted an older WM in a red Honda CRV with partial CO license plate "NOQ", unknown numbers (license plate was partially covered). Male stated he was delivering flowers in the area but Officer did not observe any flowers on the porches of residences nearby. Vehicle left the area. Vehicle and driver description logged for future reference and shared with all BIS Officers. Driver and vehicle were not observed again.

 

1/10…10:40 am…Zone 1…Mesa Ave…While on security check patrol, BIS Officer observed a suspicious vehicle driving slowly through the area. White Chevy Traverse with CO plates occupied by a HF wearing a dark colored top. BIS Officer attempted contact with the driver in the parking lot of St. Paul’s church. As the BIS Officer approached - the vehicle left the area quickly due to the driver seeing the BIS Officer. Descriptions of vehicle and driver relayed to all BIS Officers and logged for future reference if needed. Vehicle was not seen in the are the remainder of the day.

 

1/10…10:57 am…Zone 10…Plainview Road…Residential burglary. BIS Officer was notified by a member of a break-in/burglary at the member’s house. BIS Officer responded and arrived at 11:04 am. Entry gained by perpetrator throwing a rock through a window at the rear of the house. No alarm activation. BIS Officer was met by housekeeper and interior of the house was checked, no one found inside. CSPD notified and arrived at 11:22 am. Initial investigation and report undertaken by CSPD. Suspect(s) ransacked a couple rooms, items stacked up in several places, some small items taken, suspect(s) possibly interrupted.

1/13…10:10 am…Zone 6…Springmeadow Drive…BIS Officer observed and contacted a WM, 50’s, 5’6” tall, with a long blonde beard, wearing a navy-blue jacket, carrying two trash bags, outside the entrance to Spring Grove Community by the guard shack. Suspicious male stated that he and 2-3 others normally camp near the bridge/wooded area near Stratton Lake. Male was by himself and stated he was lost and very cold, waiting for a ride. Male refused medical attention when offered, no one else seen in the area. No other calls received. Male had not been seen in the area before.

 

1/13…7:50 am…Zone 1…First street and Maple Ave…Road closed due to water mainline break, Colorado Springs Utilities on scene.

 

1/14…2:46 am…Zone 8…Cheyenne Mtn Blvd…BIS Officer received an alarm call at a member’s residence for a possible garage door forced entry. Officer arrived at 2:49 am, no vehicle tracks or footprints observed in the fresh snow. The garage door was secure and undamaged. No vehicles or individuals observed in the area.  Residence perimeter was checked. All doors and windows were secure with no signs of criminal attempt or other foul play. Member was contacted and assured everything was fine. False alarm possibly activated due to a malfunction caused the extremely cold weather.
