Officer Notes 5/6/24 to 5/12/24

05/06... 12:30 am. Zone 10... Old Stage Road: Alarm Response. BIS Officer received a call from alarm company for a member's residence. Officer arrived at 12:44 am. Spoke with the owner who was out of town. Conducted complete perimeter check. No signs of attempted break-in or damage. All was secure and intact. Power was out in the area due to windstorm damage. Cleared at 01:00 am.

 

05/06...06:15 am... Zone 7... Beech Ave: Alarm Response. The BIS Officer received a call from alarm company for a burglar alarm at a member's residence. The Officer arrived at 06:23 am and conducted a thorough exterior search for signs of possible break-in or other foul play. No evidence of any intrusion or attempted burglary was detected. While completing exterior search, Officer witnessed a huge tree fall (extremely high winds) and destroy approximately 30 feet of member's perimeter fence. The Officer contacted the member and advised of incident and alarm. Cleared at 06:30 am

 

05/06...06:59 am... Zone 9...Marland Road: Alarm Response. The BIS Officer received a call from an alarm company regarding glass break sensors at a member's residence. Officer arrived at 07:13 am. and checked the exterior of the residence. No evidence of foul play or attempted break-in. All windows and doors were intact. Extremely high winds. Some small trees detected that had been blown over. Officer attempted to reach owner but was unsuccessful. Phone number on file disconnected. Cleared at 07:18 am.

 

05/06...07:06 am... Zone 10...Penrose Blvd: Road Hazard. BIS Officer discovered a dangerous tree nearly down on SB lane of Penrose Blvd. Notified city forestry dept and cleared at 07:10 am.

 

05/06...07:25 am. Zone 2... Second Street: Road Hazard.  The BIS Officer discovered two large trees down blocking 2nd Street. Checked for persons or vehicles under trees. Notified CS Fire and City Forestry who advised they would handle blockage. Cleared at 07:50 am.

 

05/06...08:09 am... Zone 7... Beech Ave at 2nd Street: Power Interruption/Fallen Tree Hazard. The BIS Officer discovered a large tree had fallen on a power line and was suspended on the wires hanging over 2nd Street. Notified CS Fire who arrived at 08:20 am. Cleared at 08:30 but then called back by CS Fire to assist with traffic control until city utilities could respond and handle. The BIS Officer remained directing traffic until high winds partially subsided and cleared at 10:00 am. City Utilities crew arrived at 10:50 am and cleared the hazard.

 

05/07...7:39 pm...Zone 1... Mesa Ave: Suspicious Vehicle. Bis Officer received a call from a member about a possible abandoned vehicle on private property. Arrived on scene at 7:50 pm. No one around vehicle, no hazard. Re-contacted member who reported and advised about situation. Kept watch on vehicle remainder of shift until it left the area later that evening.

 

05/08...08:33 am...Zone 4... Cypress Lane and Sycamore: Suspicious Vehicle/Activity. The BIS Officer received a call from a member about a skid steer vehicle (construction equipment) in the wooded area near that intersection. No one was around and no recent work in the area had been observed. The officer arrived at 08:40 am. Officer observed the skid steer and went to several residences around the area to determine if it was owned by an area resident or if they were having some work done. No one the Officer contacted knew anything or claimed ownership. Officer retrieved a company name from the side of the vehicle. A local concrete contracting company was called and told the BIS Officer they had just discovered the equipment missing/stolen. Owner would file report with CSPD. The BIS Officer also called CSPD and reported the stolen equipment. CSPD advised they would handle the incident/theft. Officer cleared at 09:07. Skid steer remained there throughout the remainder of the day. At 8:01 pm, BIS Officer received a call from an anonymous person stating someone was loading the skid steer into the back of an older Dodge pickup. No further information. Officer responded and arrived at 8:12 pm. Pickup and skid steer were gone upon arrival. Officer checked the area, patrolling for 20 minutes but was unable to locate the vehicle and equipment. Cleared at 8:37 pm. Contacted CSPD with the additional development and information related to the incident. Followed up with the concrete company (skid steer owner) the next morning who advised they had not retrieved the skid steer and it evidently had been re-stolen.

 

05/09...06:48 am... Zone 1...Jupiter Lane: Suspicious Person. BIS Officer received a call from a member about a suspicious man entering their property earlier that morning, urinating on their fence and loitering in the area for about 30-45 minutes. The suspect was observed on camera footage to be a WM, wearing a tan jacket and had a large dog on a leash was viewed on the surveillance camera. The subject had left the area already when the BIS Officer arrived. The suspect didn't appear to damage anything. Cleared at 07:11 am. Officer monitored the area the rest of the day and logged the subject information for other BIS Officers. No further contact was made or calls about the subject were received.

 

05/09...6:45 pm...Zone 7...Broadmoor Ave: Suspicious Vehicle. BIS Officer received a call from a member's service worker about a suspicious vehicle parked across street for member's home. Never seen before. Officer responded and arrived at 6:59 pm and spoke with service worker. Pointed out vehicle. Newer Toyota with Colo. plates. Information recorded and vehicle monitored throughout Officer's shift. Vehicle left area later that evening.

 

05/10...9:25 pm...Zone 7...Broadmoor Ave: Suspicious Vehicle/Trespassing. The BIS Officer observed a vehicle parked on private property with engine running occupied by younger WF possibly sleeping or impaired. The officer approached the driver and determined the driver was not impaired. The driver was not from the area and was unaware she was trespassing on private property. The driver left the area, and the Officer cleared the contact.

 

05/11...12:21 am… Zone 1...Mesa Ave: Alarm Call. BIS Officer received an alarm notification for interior motion audible alarm at a member's facility. Officer arrived at 12:23 am. The alarm was not audible and had reset. Officer checked exterior and interior. All clear. No evidence of foul play forced entry, or damage to property. Officer informed member. Cleared at 12:40 am.

 

05/12...11:00 am....Zone 1… Mesa Ave: Homeless Campers. The BIS Office received a call about tables and rubbish in the Strawberry Fields area. The caller advised probably homeless people camping there. Information logged for future reference. Shared with all Officers.

 

05/12...11:46 pm… Zone 6:  Near Wycliffe. Suspicious Person. BIS Officer observed a WM pushing a shopping cart on the street. Subject described as medium build, 5'9", black flat brimmed hat. Suspected homeless. Officer contacted the subject and determined there were no signs of impairment or distress. Officer monitored the subject until he left the area.
