10/31…2:48 pm…Zone 5…Sequoyah Road: Received a call from a BIS member regarding a burglar alarm at the residence coming from the front door. The BIS officer arrived at 2:53 pm, alarm was not audible, and the front door was secure. The exterior of the house was checked and there were no signs of attempted entry. The homeowner was called and advised that all was secure and that it may have been the high winds that set off the alarm. Cleared at 3:02 pm.

 

10/31…3:50 pm…Zone 5…El Encanto Drive:  Received a call from a member about a suspicious male who came to their door an hour earlier. Only description given was that it was a male with a light complexion. Male asked if the member had any work for him to do. The male exited the property and was last seen walking north on El Encanto Drive. No other calls were received.  The BIS officer observed a male vaguely matching the description walking east on Lake Avenue just pass Stricker Road.

 

11/1…6:50 pm…Zone 8…Pourtales Road: Received a call from a member stating she had gotten a text message from a neighbor about a homeless male on a bicycle. A detailed description was not provided.  Only that the male confronted the neighbor as they were leaving their house. Received a second call from a member stating that a homeless male wearing a long black coat with a shopping cart was on Hutton Lane near the Colorado Springs School. The BIS officer arrived at 7:04 pm and began checking numerous streets in the area including the Colorado Springs School and the Cheyenne Mountain Country Club but contact was not made with the male. No one was seen in the area matching the description and no shopping cart was found in the area. No other calls were received.  Cleared at 7:33 pm.

 

11/1…10:11 pm…Zone 1…Mesa Ave:  While on patrol, a BIS officer heard an extremely loud explosion/booming sound coming from the Northwest area around Cheyenne Canyon. Shortly afterwards, a BIS member called to report the same explosion which rattled the windows on their house. Officer checked the area of Seven Falls and Starsmore Discovery Center. No power outage in the area and no damage seen to anything in the area. No other explosions or any fireworks were heard in the area and no other calls received.  Cleared at 10:24 pm.

 

11/2…4:17 pm…Zone 4…Strickler Road: Received an email from non-member about a homeless male seen on their camera walking through their backyard, coming from the area of Highway 115. Pictures showed a WM 30’s/40’s wearing black or dark green cargo pants, white zip up hoodie, black tennis shoes and a black ballcap with dark brown or black hair. No other calls received about this male in the area.  The BIS officer did not see this person during his patrol shift.    

 

11/2…12:04 pm…Zone 5…El Encanto Drive: Received a call from a BIS member about a suspicious female riding a bike in the area. Female described as a HF 40’s with grey hair, wearing a grey jacket and jeans. Reporting member tried talking to the female, but she would not talk to them. The BIS officer arrived at 12:19 pm and began checking the area. The BIS officer received a second call from a different BIS member at 12:20 pm about a HF pushing a bicycle up Marland Rd (heading south) and was noticed by the member to be stopping in front of houses looking down driveways.  The BIS officer located and contacted her at 12:27 pm on Marland Road. When asked if she needed any help, she first pretended not to speak any English.  Upon further questioning she then started speaking in English saying that people were “harassing her, calling her names and telling her to leave the neighborhood”.  She was advised to stay on the public streets and not to go onto private property. Female became upset stating, “we were dropped off in the city” and other statements about finding a vacant house to live in, etc. Female was again advised to stay off private property. She then got on her bike and started riding north on Marland Rd towards Broadmoor Elementary School. Officer followed her until she left the area going east on Lake Ave.

 

11/2…11:04 pm…Zone 2…Polo Pony Drive: Received a call from a BIS member stating that a vehicle on Polo Pony Drive had hit the curb/storm drain and damaged their vehicle. The driver of the vehicle had been at the location since about 10 pm and no help appeared to be arriving. The BIS officer arrived at 11:18 pm and found a red GMC Acadia with CO plates. The vehicle had heavy damage to the front of the vehicle and the driver’s side airbags had deployed. Upon contacting the driver, she stated that her right wrist was injured, and her face was sore from the airbag. The BIS officer contacted both CSFD and CSPD.  AMR ambulance arrived at 11:42 pm and CSPD arrived at 11:45 pm. Driver was treated by AMR at the scene and CSPD arranged for a tow truck. The reporting member was called back and advised that medical and police personnel were on scene.  Cleared at 12:05 pm.

 

11/3…11:58 am…Zone 10…Midland Road: BIS member called about two suspicious males who knocked on the front door and “waited a long time to see if anyone would answer” before leaving the property. Last seen walking South on Midland Road and then South on Penrose Blvd, no further description given of the males. The officer arrived in the area at 12:05 pm and began checking the area. The BIS officer checked numerous streets including Penrose Blvd, Midland Road, Upland Road and Chase Lane with no contact.  Unable to locate the males. Reporting member was assured that the males had left the area, and no other calls received.  Cleared at 12:15 pm.
