11/4…4:45 pm…Zone 5…Mayfield Lane: A BIS member called regarding an incident at their non-member neighbor residence across the street. The neighbor’s house had an attempted break-in early this morning. An individual, with no description given, walked up to the front door, damaged their ring doorbell and a window screen was removed. The individual did not enter the house. CSPD was notified by homeowner. No further information.
11/5…7:13 am…Zone 7…Pourtales Road and Cheyenne Mountain Blvd: Received a call from a non-member reporting two suspicious males on bikes, loitering on the SW corner of the intersection. The BIS officer arrived at 7:19 am and saw two white males with facial hair, one wearing a blue jacket and the other male a brown jacket. Cheyenne Mountain School security was called and provided descriptions of the males since the two males were close to the elementary school. At 7:37 am, the BIS officer and Cheyenne Mountain school security parked visibly at the elementary school observing the two males. Both left the area quickly riding their bikes east on Cheyenne Mountain Blvd. Cleared at 7:47 am.
11/5…9:54 am…Zone 5…Cheyenne Mountain Blvd: Received a call from a non-member about the same two white males on bikes from earlier this morning. Both males were reported to be sitting on the edge of someone’s yard at W. Cheyenne Mountain Blvd and Old Broadmoor Road. Prior to arriving in the area at 9:57 am, both males were seen riding north on Old Broadmoor Road, north of Lake Avenue. The BIS Officer began patrolling the area and at 10:01 am saw the male with the brown jacket at Woodburn Street and Cypress Lane. After seeing the patrol vehicle, the male left the area riding north on Woodburn Street. The BIS Officer patrolled the area and could not locate the males again.
11/6…7:28 am…Zone 9…Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Road: Received a call from a member about a Chevy Suburban with a blown out rear tire blocking the intersection with Marland Road South. The BIS member thought the male was acting suspiciously and may have been drinking alcohol. The BIS officer arrived at 7:35 am and found a gold Chevy Suburban with CO plates, with heavy damage to the rear driver’s side tire. The driver was a WM with brown hair, beard, wearing a white ballcap, brown jacket, blue jeans and black shoes. The driver did not seem to be impaired. The driver stated he was going to drive the vehicle to the side of the road and come back with some help. The driver proceeded to drive the vehicle to Cheyenne Mountain Blvd then to Mirada Road. He continued to drive the vehicle onto Pourtales Road then east on Lake Ave. Cleared at 7:50 am.
11/6…8:08 am…Zone 4…Old Broadmoor Road and Elm Ave: While patrolling the area, BIS officer observed the same gold Suburban from earlier. The vehicle was parked facing west on Elm Ave partially blocking Old Broadmoor Road. The driver was contacted again and stated he stopped to take a break. Officer smelled a strong odor of burnt metal and plastic and observed some batteries that had been broken open and burnt. Male stated he was smoking kerosene from the batteries, dipping marijuana in the substance and smoking. Driver began to get aggressive with the officer who returned to the patrol vehicle and called 911 at 8:11 am. Male drove off proceeding west on Elm Ave to First Street. Information given to the 911 operator.
11/6…10:33 am…Zone 10…Penrose Blvd and El Pomar Road: Received a call from a BIS member regarding the same male in the gold Suburban. Male was reported to be yelling at passing vehicles, blocking traffic, and banging on the hood of a Colorado Springs Utilities vehicle. The BIS officer called 911 while enroute and arrived at 10:42 am. While awaiting CSPD’s arrival the male was observed stopping several vehicles by standing in the roadway. The BIS officer exited the patrol vehicle and from a distance asked the male to step out of the roadway. The male began to walk aggressively towards the BIS officer with his hands placed in his jacket pockets. The BIS officer began to back away from the male telling him to stop walking towards him and to remove his hands from his pockets. Male refused the officer’s commands and continued with his aggressive behavior. An altercation ensued and the BIS Officer was able to detain the male by placing him in handcuffs. 911 was called again while the male continued to be verbally aggressive, spitting at the officer and kicking the officer in the knee. Broadmoor Fire Department arrived at 10:58 am along with CSFD, AMR, and CSPD. Male was arrested on numerous charges. Cleared at 11:25 am.
11/6…11:55 am…Zone 6…Briarcrest Place: Received a burglar alarm notification coming from a member’s house. Alarm was activated from the family room glass break sensor. The BIS officer arrived at 12:05 pm and checked the exterior of the house. No signs of an attempted break-in with no footprints in the snow. Homeowners were called back and informed no entry was made to their home. Cleared at 12:09 pm.

11/8…3:35 pm…Zone 9…Marland Road South: BIS officer helped a driver who was stuck in the snow, on the wrong side of the road facing west towards oncoming traffic. A neighbor brought some sand for traction and a private plow truck removed snow from the driveway. The driver of the vehicle asked the BIS officer to drive her and her vehicle up the driveway for her. She thanked BIS very much for helping. Cleared at 4:40 pm.
11/8…6:55 pm…Zone 10…Penrose Blvd: White female in a white Chevy Malibu was stuck and could not get up the road any further. BIS officer assisted her and helped her get the vehicle parked safely on the shoulder of the road and out of traffic. The driver stated she had a ride coming to pick her up in about 30 minutes.
11/8…7:30 pm…Zone 10…Penrose Blvd and Old Stage Road: A driver and passenger were in a Chevy Malibu stuck in the intersection. They were trying to get to an AIR BNB on Pine Road. BIS officer got the vehicle turned around and had them follow the officer from Midland to Upland Road then onto Pine Road where they were safely shown the location of the AIR BNB. The driver and passenger thanked BIS for helping. Cleared 7:40 pm.
11/8…9:14 pm…Zone 10…El Pomar Rd: While on patrol the BIS officer detected a strong odor coming from St. Paul’s school. After further investigation, he could hear a loud hissing sound coming from the area of the air handler on the roof. The BIS officer removed himself from the area since his thought was that there was a gas leak and called CS Utilities. They said a technician would be sent to the school and asked for a contact number. Cleared at 9:34pm.
At 11:57pm, CS Utilities technician contacted the BIS officer so that he could gain access to the inside of the building to check for gas readings. Also, the technician found a gas line coming from the roof that was leaking gas. Gas readings at this location was 4.1%. The technician was able to shut off the gas. Gas readings were detected inside of the main chapel but nowhere else inside. The technician worked with the BIS officer to open windows inside of the chapel. The officer cleared at 12:30am.
