Officer Reports 6/10/24 to 6/16/24

6/10…9:24 pm…Zone 9…Marland Road South: BIS Officer received a burglar alarm call at a member's residence from Advanced Alarm coming from a window and door motion sensor. The BIS officer arrived at 9:35 pm and observed a light being turned off and on inside a room. The officer approached the house and saw suitcases with airport luggage tags in the living room. Contact was made with the owners who just arrived home. The officer cleared at 10 pm.

 

6/11…1:15 am…Zone 9...Crossland Road: BIS Officer received a call from a member of juveniles ringing the doorbell and banging on the windows of the member's house. The BIS officer arrived at 1:22 am and observed a black SUV with CO plates parked off the road in some tall grass near the member's home. The vehicle was unoccupied. The officer checked the area attempting to locate juveniles but did not locate anyone in the area. Upon returning to where the black SUV was parked, discovered it had left the area. The officer checked the area again for the vehicle but was unable to locate. No other calls received. Officer cleared at 2 am. Logged vehicle information for all officers to be on the lookout (BOLO) on all shifts.

6/13…3:32 am…Zone 6…Salisbury Court: Officer received a call from a member who was out of town advising that the alarm had gone off at their residence. The BIS officer arrived at 3:40 am. Exterior perimeter check revealed all doors and windows were secure, no sign of attempted entry. The officer placed two packages inside the garage at member’s request. Member was called back and advised everything was secure, cleared at 3:55 am.

6/15…2:01 am…Zone 2…Red Wing Terrace: Suspicious vehicle on the street that has never been seen in the area before. White Ford Expedition, dark tinted windows, lift kit with CO plates, unknown number of occupants. The vehicle drove off quickly as the BIS officer pulled onto the street. Last seen on El Pomar Road being driven towards Penrose Blvd. A few minutes later the BIS officer observed the vehicle pull into the driveway of a former BIS member and then parked. Officer has seen numerous high school aged males and their vehicles at this house in the past. Nothing unusual seen on Red Wing Terrace or surrounding streets. No calls received and no other contact with the suspicious vehicle.

 

6/15…5:20 pm…Zone 4…Cypress Lane: BIS officer flagged down by a non-member about a suspicious male, described as a WM with dark hair wearing a blue shirt with tan pants. The reporting person stated the suspicious WM came into the non-member’s backyard, possibly looking for metal. Officer drove around the area checking for the male on Old Broadmoor Road, Cypress Lane and several other streets in the area. No contact was made, however. No other calls received about this male. Officer logged for future refence and following shift officers as suspicious male may contact BIS members in the area.

 

6/16…9:58 pm…Zone 1…Hermosa Way: Received a call from a member that he could smell smoke in area. The member checked online and did not see any reports of a fire but requested the BIS officer check the area. Officer was delayed in responding due to numerous trespassers BIS Officer was involved with at the Colorado Springs School. BIS officer arrived at 10:38 pm, no smell or visible smoke in the area. Contacted the member at their house, reassured the member that it was probably a fire pit or BBQ in the area, no emergency vehicles seen in the area, no visible smoke or smell in the area. Officer continued checking several more streets in the area with nothing usual found, cleared at 10:53 pm.
