7/15…2:15 am…Zone 9…Old Stage Road: While patrolling and conducting night security checks, BIS Officer came across a traffic incident/vehicle crash in the 2100 block of Old Stage Road by the community mailboxes. A red Pontiac G5 with Arizona plates had struck a metal dumpster and left the roadway travelling over the top of a gravel berm. The vehicle was unoccupied, and no individuals or other vehicles were observed in the area. CSPD was called by the BIS officer. The CSPD call taker stated they had received a call about the vehicle an hour earlier but had no officers available. CSPD response for a crash investigation was in the que. BIS Officer cleared at 2:26 am.
7/15…7:20 am…Zone 7…Broadmoor Ave and Hutton Lane: While patrolling BIS officer observed a suspicious vehicle on the corner of Broadmoor Ave and Hutton Lane. Silver Dodge Challenger with damage to the driver’s side rear fender area and no license plates on the vehicle. Vehicle occupied by a white male driver, bald in his 30s. White female passenger with brown hair in her 30s. Both tried to duck down out of sight as the officer drove by. BIS officer contacted CSPD due to the suspicious nature of the vehicle and occupants. CSPD on scene at 8:01 am who interacted with the driver and passenger. The driver was arrested for DUI. When the BIS officer left the scene, CSPD was still checking to see if the vehicle was stolen and whether the occupants had any warrants. BIS officer cleared at 8:45 am.
7/15…11:15 am…Zone 10…Upland Road: Received a call from a non-member complaining about their neighbor(non-member) concerning trash piled up outside (cabinets, chairs and miscellaneous items). Reporting party was given the phone number for code enforcement to report the trash.
7/15…2:34 pm…Zone 10…Upland Road: BIS officer received an alarm call at a member’s residence from Advanced Alarm. Alarm activation was coming from a dining room motion sensor. The officer arrived at 2:39 pm. The alarm was not audible, there were no signs of attempted entry, and all doors and windows were secure. Advanced Alarm and the BIS member were called and notified of the false alarm. Officer cleared 2:53 pm.
7/16…2:46 pm…Zone 5…Loma Linda Drive: Received a call from a BIS member about a suspicious vehicle parked at a neighbor’s house and a male walking in the yard. Vehicle described as a blue minivan with CO plates. White male, red beard, medium height and wearing black shorts and a hoodie. While on the phone with the member, the member spoke with his neighbor and was told the suspicious male was a roofer and was allowed on the property. The BIS officer cleared at 2:49 pm.
7/17…7:43 am…Zone 1…Mesa Ave: Received a call from a BIS member about a HM wearing a bright yellow Colorado Springs utility shirt and blue jeans, medium build and carrying many bags. The male rang the doorbell and then sat by the front door. The BIS officer arrived at 7:46 am and told the HM that he was trespassing on private property and had to leave. Male stated he was looking for a place to hide his stuff and bed down. Male was advised again to stay off private property in the area. Male began yelling unintelligibly at the officer while walking west on Mesa Ave. At 8:00 am he was contacted again after entering onto a BIS members property and then quickly left the property upon seeing the officer. CSPD was notified and given the male’s description. Male was last seen near Strawberry Fields area. Officer checked numerous streets including Penrose Blvd, Alta Vista Road, Pine Grove Ave and Mesa Ave and was unable to locate the male again. Officer cleared at 8:20 am. No other calls received.
7/18…12:51 pm…Zone 9…Old Stage Road: Received a call from a BIS member regarding ten vehicles parked on the street in front of their driveway. The BIS officer arrived at 1:00 pm and found six vehicles parked on the street. Grey Lexus SUV, white Mazda CS-5, grey Toyota Tundra, white GMC Sierra, white Tesla sedan and a grey Toyota Tundra with Vivid Engineering marking. All vehicles had CO plates, and all were unoccupied. Vehicles were legally parked and there were no signs in the area stating no parking. Officer checked the area and did not find anyone who were the owner(s) of the vehicles. Vehicles were gone from the area at 4:05 pm when the officer checked the area again.
7/18…8:06 pm…Zone 7…Broadmoor Ave and Fifth Street: Received a call from a BIS member about a suspicious male walking East on Broadmoor Ave stopping and looking at houses. Described as a HM wearing a yellow and white ballcap with a backpack. The BIS officer arrived at 8:12 pm checking several streets to the east of 5th Ave up to Old Broadmoor Road. The BIS officer contacted the reporting party to inform them that officer was not able to locate the HM. No other calls received.

7/20…6:08 pm…Zone 8…Marland Road South: Received a call from LVW Electronics about a burglar alarm sounding from a member’s house. The BIS officer arrived at 6:21 pm, and the alarm was not audible. Upon inspecting the exterior of the home, the officer found a door on the west side of the house standing open. No pry marks or signs of forced entry to the door. The door appeared to not have been closed completely or locked. Officer made announcements from the doorway and stood in the doorway to check if anything was disturbed or looked suspicious. No one contacted inside and nothing was disturbed that could be seen by the officer. Attempted to contact the homeowners and left messages on their voicemail. Alarm company was notified and informed on what the officer observed at the home. Officer secured the door and cleared at 6:58 pm. The next shift officer spoke with the homeowner at 8:04 am and informed them about the alarm and open door.
7/20…10:28 pm…Zone 1…Third Street and Elm Ave: Received a call from a BIS member about a vehicle parked on Third Street just North of Elm Ave that appeared to have been in an accident. The BIS officer arrived at 10:34 pm and found a white Chevy Cruze with CO plates. The vehicle had heavy damage down the driver’s side and missing the rear bumper. Contacted a white male 30s wearing black pants, no shirt, numerous tattoos with three pit bulls inside the vehicle. Male stated the vehicle belonged to a customer he was fixing the vehicle for and that he thinks the engine blew out. Upon talking to him further, he stated he was living in a bus on Rampart Range Road and lost his cell phone and had no one to help him. The BIS officer called two individuals for him, but neither was able to pick him up. CSPD was called due to the vehicle not being drivable and not belonging to him. CSPD stated they would send an officer when available. BIS officer cleared at 11:25 pm. At 12:38 am BIS officer contacted the male again, giving him food, two bottles of water and three emergency survival blankets for him and his dogs. Male stated CSPD had been by and would not give him a ride to Rampart Range Road area. He was told to sleep in the car and leave in the morning. Cleared at 12:40 am. No other action was taken since the vehicle was parked on the side of the road and not blocking traffic.
7/21…8:40 am and 10:24 am…Zone 1…Third Street and Elm Ave: Received two calls from members about the male in the white Chevy Cruze that appeared to be broken down and needing assistance. Both BIS members were advised that a BIS officer was in contact with the male and CSPD. The members were informed that the male was awaiting help and/or a tow truck. BIS members were very appreciative that we had contacted the male and were on top of the situation. No other calls received.
