7/22…8:59 am…Zone 6…Clubhouse Drive and Club Heights Drive: BIS officer stopped to assist an elderly female who was observed lying on the ground. She had slipped and fallen in some mud, possibly injuring herself. With the assistance of two passersby, the officer and others were able to get her on her feet. The female that had fallen stated she had pain in her left knee and foot and possibly a broken finger on her left hand. She declined medical attention and requested a ride to her vehicle at Broadmoor Valley Park. The BIS officer drove her to her vehicle and assisted her inside and she left the area. Officer cleared at 9:05am. Officer followed up several hours later and determined the lady was doing OK and recuperating at home.
7/22…9:15 am…Zone 1…Mesa Ave and Heather Drive: Received a call from a BIS member to report a male with arm tattoos wearing a black hoodie and pants, sitting on the side of the road with his head down and not moving - possibly needing assistance. The BIS officer arrived at 9:17 am but did not locate the male. The officer checked numerous streets in the area including Mesa Ave, Mesa Lane, Cresta Road and Heather Drive with no contact. While patrolling the area, the BIS Officer received a second call - see below.
7/22…9:25 am…Zone 7…Broadmoor Ave and Second Street: Received a call from a BIS member about a suspicious male at the intersection. Same description as the male from Mesa Ave and Heather Drive that was received at 9:15 am. BIS officer arrived at 9:27 am contacting the male just east of Second Street. Male stated he was just taking a rest. The male’s left eye was swollen shut and there was noticeable swelling on the left side of his face. He stated it was from a few days ago from “getting mixed up with the wrong people.” Male declined medical attention and requested a ride downtown. Male was given a bottle of water and a ride to Lake Ave and Strickler Road. Subject was last seen walking out of the area. Officer cleared call at 9:33 am.
7/22…2:00 pm…Zone 8…Crossland Road: Received a message from a BIS member reporting that a metal storage pod had been broken into at a construction site – which was found by a worker. Approx 15 boxes of supplies were missing as well as an industrial mixer. Information taken by BIS Officer and passed on to CSPD and logged for reference and oncoming BIS Officers to be on the lookout for possible suspicious persons/thieves. Officer cleared at 2:20 pm.
7/22…3:23 pm…Zone 10..Leaming Road: Received a call from a BIS member reporting two suspicious males both wearing yellow shirts with "Tree Stump Company" logo. One was described as a WM, blonde hair, 30-35 years old, no description of the other male. Males stated to the member (reporting party/RP) that they were at the member's property to perform stump removal services. RP had not requested or contracted for such service or other work. BIS officer arrived at 3:32 pm. Males were gone. Officer patrolled the area, checking Leaming Road, Sanford Road, Upland Road, Alta Vista and Plainview Road with no contact. No other calls received. The member was called back and assured the males were no longer in the area. Officer cleared at 3:37 pm. Logged information for reference and oncoming shift officers to be aware.
7/23…7:14 am…Zone 4…Haney Road: BIS Officer received a call from a member about an unoccupied suspicious vehicle just south of their address. The member reported seeing the vehicle parked and running when out for a walk earlier. Upon returning 45 minutes later the vehicle was still parked and running. The BIS officer arrived at 7:23 am and found a white Dodge Dart with Texas plates, damaged to the front passenger side bumper and unoccupied. Officer proceeded to check the area for possible driver or owner. None detected in area. Officer continued checking the area and found the vehicle was gone at 9:21 am. Officer cleared the call at that time.
7/23…2:55 pm…Zone 5…El Encanto Drive: Received a call from a BIS member about a suspicious vehicle seen driving in and out of two driveways on El Encanto and one driveway on Mayfield Lane. Vehicle described as a grey Range Rover with CO plates, occupied by a male and female. No further description. BIS officer arrived in the area at 3:00 pm, checking numerous side streets in the area with no contact. The vehicle was gone on arrival. The member did not want a call back and no other calls were received. Officer cleared the call at 3:08 pm.
7/23…6:34 pm…Zone 8…Marland Road South: Received a call from a BIS member regarding mail theft. Mail was taken some time during the weekend of June 3rd. A stolen check that was in the missing mail was attempted to be cashed at two separate locations in the city. The member/homeowner filed a report with the Postal Inspection Service. The member wished to share the information with BIS for future reference.
7/23…7:44 pm…Zone 1…Elm Ave: BIS member called reporting a suspicious vehicle and male driver at their residence. The vehicle was described as a silver Jeep Cherokee with CO fleet plates, driven by a WM, bald, with medium build in his 30’s, no clothing description. The WM asked the member/resident if a “Dr. D” lived at the house. Suspicious male was told no but proceeded to loiter near the property. The subject was again contacted by the member at which point the male asked the same question again. Member called BIS and BIS officer arrived at 8:02 pm. However, the suspicious male had left the area. BIS Officer checked around the exterior of the residence and then the surrounding streets, but the vehicle and the male were not located. The member requested extra patrols through the night. The BIS Officer monitored the residence and the area for the remainder of the night. Shared information with relief shift Officer.
7/25…10:35 pm…Zone 7...Fifth Street: Received a call from a BIS member stating some kids were parked at the dead end of Fifth Street on private property. The BIS officer arrived at 10:40 pm and contacted 3 WM’s and 2 WF juveniles in a black Jeep. No signs of anything unusual or illegal. All were advised of not trespassing on private property. Juveniles were compliant and respectful. BIS member was called back and informed of action taken as the vehicle left the area while officer was on the phone. Officer cleared at 10:55 pm.

7/28…10:41 pm…Zone 8…Marland Road: BIS Officer received phone calls from three members hearing loud explosions/fireworks or gunshots coming from the area of Marland Road. The BIS officer arrived at 10:47 pm and contacted another BIS member who stated they heard what he thought were M-80 type fireworks and upon coming outside he saw two fires in separate grassy areas. The member saw a truck, possibly a Ford F-150 leaving the area but was not sure if it was involved. The member was able to put out both fires with a large bucket of water. One fire was under a wooden fence line and approximately 5-6 feet in length while the second fire was burning grass about 2-3 feet in diameter. BIS officer checked that both fires were cold to the touch and no hot spots or embers were detected. CSPD was notified of the incident and informed CSPD that no fire response was needed. Officer cleared at 11:28 pm.
