Officer Reports 8/12/24 to 8/18/24

8/12…11:09 am…Zone 10…Penrose Blvd and Alta Vista Road: BIS member called stating he heard 6-10 gunshots in the area west of Alta Vista Road. The BIS officer arrived in the area at 11:11 am. No suspicious vehicles or individuals seen in the area. Officer checked the trailheads along Alta Vista, Sanford Road to Old Stage Road, no other gunshots heard, and no other calls received. Cleared 11:20 am.

 

8/13…12:56 pm…Zone 3…Bear Paw Lane: Received a call from a BIS member regarding a suspicious male caught on their doorbell camera. Male described as wearing a hard hat and green reflective vest carrying a ladder. The BIS officer arrived at 1:06 pm. No vehicles or individuals matching the description in the area. The exterior of the house was checked and there were no signs of forced entry. Door hanger/pamphlet found on the front door for electric meter renewal from Colorado Springs Utilities. The member called back and advised all was secure.  Cleared at 1:13 pm.

8/15…10:42 am…Zone 10…Upland Road: Received a call from Advanced Alarm about an interior motion alarm at a BIS member’s residence. The BIS officer arrived at 10:47 am and checked the exterior of the house. All doors and windows were secure and there was no sign of attempted entry. The BIS member was called and notified of the findings.  Cleared at 11:07 am.

8/17…7:45 pm…Zone 4…Strickler Road: Received a call from a BIS member that they saw three homeless people with all their gear walk into a group of trees East of their house. The BIS officer arrived at 8:02 pm and found a white large canvas tent located about 50 yards east of the member’s property line. The BIS officer announced himself and spoke to one adult male and female inside the tent. Both were pleasant in tone to talk to.  Stated they were camping until they could get on their feet and one of their friends gets his retirement check. They did not have any fires going and stated they would not have any fires. The location of their camp was passed onto CSPD.  Cleared at 8:54 pm.
