It is disappointing that USPS continues to struggle with effectively managing vacation hold requests created on-line. Several BIS members have reported that their mail was not stopped despite submitting a Hold Mail request via USPS on-line system.
The issue arises when supervisors, who are responsible for reviewing Hold Mail requests on-line, fail to properly print and place them where mail carriers can see them.
Until USPS improves its system and employee training, there remains a risk that your Hold Mail request may go unnoticed. To ensure your request is processed, USPS recommends visiting your local branch, completing an Authorization to Hold Mail form, and handing it directly to a mail clerk
Our BIS officers frequently come across misdelivered mail during service calls and make it a priority to redirect it to the correct address, highlighting the ongoing challenges with USPS mail handling.
